Department of Surgery for Newborns and Premature Babies

The Department of Surgery for Newborns and Premature Infants is designed to provide emergency and planned specialized surgical care to patients aged 0 to 3 months from all regions of the Republic of Belarus. The department began functioning in the structure of the Russian National Center for Pediatric Surgery, inheriting almost half a century of experience of the Belarusian Children’s Surgical Center in the surgical treatment of newborns and children of the first months of life with congenital and acquired surgical pathology.



Department structure
Every year, about 400 patients are treated in the department, more than 300 surgical procedures are performed, a third of which are high-tech. The department is also the training base of the Departments of Pediatric Surgery of BSMU and BelMAPE: students are trained, interns, clinical residents and graduate students are trained, specialized specialists are undergoing postgraduate training.
Department staff
The medical staff of the department is represented by highly qualified specialists who have completed internships in clinics near and far abroad. The staff of the department regularly attends various international congresses, symposiums and conferences dedicated to pediatric surgery and neonatology.
