The department is designed to provide round-the-clock emergency specialized care to patients aged 0 to 15 years (inclusive) from Minsk and from 0 to 18 years old from other regions of the Republic of Belarus with surgical pathology.

Every year, about 4,000 patients with suspected acute surgical pathology receive care in our department, and about 1,200 operations are performed. The department is the training base of the Department of Pediatric Surgery of BSMU, where students are trained, trainee doctors, clinical residents and graduate students are trained.

Department staff

The specialists of the department have extensive work experience, have passed master classes and internships in Europe and the USA. Every year we train specialists from different countries.

Range of services of the department

Thanks to the long and successful work of the team, the clinic has accumulated unique experience in intensive care of any level of complexity, including:

  • laser recanalization of esophageal scar strictures

  • esophageal stenting using biodegradable stents

  • Bianchi gastroschisis repair.

  • laparoscopic gastrostomy

  • Thoracoscopic diaphragmatic plasty for congenital, acquired diaphragmatic hernia and diaphragmatic relaxation

    normo-, moderate and deep hypothermia in children of all age groups.

  • Esophagocoloplasty with additional vascularization of the intestinal graft

  • segmental esophageal plasty with microvascular anastomoses

  • pharyngoesophagocoloplasty
